Art Club 2000 was founded in 1992 as a collaboration between 7 art school students at Cooper Union and facilitated by art dealer Colin de Land of American Fine Arts, Co. in NYC. An experiment in group art-making and subverting art world celebrity culture, Art Club 2000 was heavily influenced by notions of institutional critique and the commodification of the artist’s identity by the GAP.
Art Club 2000 was recently included in:
NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star, at the New Museum, February 13, 2013 - May 26, 2013
The Conditions of Being Art: Pat Hearn Gallery and American Fine Arts, Co. (1983-2004), at the Hessel Museum of Art, Bard College, June 23, 2018 - December 14, 2018
